The
Cotswold Show and Country Fair - A weekend of fun
for all the family. Below is a press release that was issued before
the 2005 event.
This
year’s Suzuki Cotswold Show and Country Fair will once again
take place in the beautiful setting of Cirencester Park. The Show
will be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July 2005 and is set
to be bigger and better than ever with events and attractions to
suit the whole family.

This
will be the 16th year that the Show has been running and it promises
a wealth of new attractions including camel racing, chariot racing,
walking with wolves and a 60th anniversary commemoration of VE Day
and VJ Day.
Favourite
attractions and events will also be returning, including the very
popular Cotswold Life Food Village, the dog agility contest and
the Suzuki off-road driving experience. Suzuki Motors are the main
sponsors of the show and with the support of the Cirencester dealership
- Pebley Beach, Lord Apsley and Claudia Wilson (the main organisers
of the Show) believe this year will be the best yet.
Speaking
about the event, Mrs Wilson said: “Over the years, the Suzuki
Cotswold Show and Country Fair has established itself as a firm
favourite in the annual show calendar. This year, we are appealing
to a wide variety of visitors from throughout the region, but in
particular, we want to attract local families back to the Show.
There will be entertainment for children of all ages and at only
£18 for a family ticket, we are sure they will find it great
value for money.”
Lord
Apsley continued “We haven’t forgotten our pledge to
promote the rural way of life in a positive way, but we recognise
that we need to broaden the Show’s appeal if we are to attract
more visitors. By expanding and diversifying the number of events
over the two days, we hope to lift the profile of the Show and increase
ticket sales, which in turn will benefit local charities. This year’s
camel racing and chariot racing should do just that and I for one
am looking forward to seeing these different and unusual events!”
Lord
Apsley was keen to point out that there will still be many of the
traditional stalls and shows that capture the spirit and traditions
of the countryside, such as the Gun Dog competitions and the Vintage
Tractor and Steam Engine displays and with over 200 trade stands
around the Park there will be plenty of chances to sample and buy
the best that the Cotswolds has to offer.
Ticket
prices start at just £8 per adult, with a family ticket for
four only £18. Tickets can be purchased online or from outlets
across the region.
