Sherston, the picturesque village on the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border, has been linked with the game of Boules since 1986. On the 17th July 2010, the 25th Sherston Boules Day will celebrate a tournament that has become the longest-lasting and the biggest one-day boules event in the UK. Day-long live music, entertainments, craft and market stalls, children’s activities and a range of food and drink at pavement bars and cafes offer a relaxing contrast to often hard-fought matches. This is a day out that the whole family can enjoy as participant or spectator. First matches start at 9.30am on 14 specially laid sandy pitches on Sherston High Street. All proceeds from Boules Day go to local charities that have benefitted by almost £200,000 since 1986.
