The Cotswolds - Stow on the Wold

Stow-on-the-Wold, or Stow, is one of the most visited Cotswold places and is home to Scotts Of Stow.

Stow on the Wold stands exposed on a 700 feet high hill on the ancient Roman Fosse Way that leads to the Midlands

Like many of its Cotswolds neighbours, Stow was at the centre of the Cotswolds wool trade.

The vast Market Square (pictured) is a sign of the towns former importance. At one end stands the town stocks and the other the ancient cross. An elegant array of Cotswold town houses and shops surrounds the square.

Stow on the Wold is an important shopping centre and is home to many antique shops, art galleries and gifts and crafts shops.
