Council Plants Three Oak Trees In Cirencester

Three English Oak trees have been planted in Cirencester this week as part of Cotswold District Councils ongoing tree strategy.

The three trees approximately 10 years old and planted at the Kingsmeadow Picnic Area on Wednesday February 25th were the first to be planted in the District under the Councils Replacement Tree Programme.

This scheme will look to add new trees the right species for the planned location at several places across the District over the next few years, while examining the state of existing ones across the Cotswolds.

Cllr John Birch, Cotswold District Councils portfolio holder for Development Services, said: Im excited about this, because planting new trees such as English Oak is an excellent legacy for future generations.

Its part of Cotswold District Councils policy to put the right species of trees in the right place.

Across the Cotswolds, CDC owns in excess of 2000 trees, with approximately half in the Cirencester area, while there are also more than 70 sites containing trees in the District.

These trees are located in a variety of locations, including cemeteries, car parks and near leisure centres.
