Get Sporty With Council Coaching Sessions

Sports coaching sessions designed to get children active and feeling confident are on your doorstep during the Easter holidays, thanks to The Sports Club.

Daily doses of sport coaching are being hosted across the Cotswolds by a dedicated team, who offer a wide range of sports at different venues for children from 5-16 years old.

The scheme, set up by Cotswold District Council in 2005, offers children a safe yet fun and friendly environment where they can take part in a mixture of sports, including football, cricket, golf, rugby, martial arts, tennis and many more.

The courses are held at a range of locations around the District over the Easter holidays, including three of the five Council-run leisure centres. They are also being held at schools, local sports clubs or playing fields, and all sessions run from 9.30am to 3pm.
Scott Burry, Cotswold District Councils Youth Sport Development Officer said:

The Sports Club continues to provide a safe, friendly and fun environment for young people to try their hand at sport. The non-competitive coaching sessions allow children to play a mixture of sports with freedom and enjoyment while joining up with school friends and meeting new people.

I was very pleased with the quality and success of The Sports Club during February and I am sure it will continue during the Easter holidays.

The Sports Club coaching team are all qualified at various levels of sport coaching, and have First Aid and Child Protection training. A daily fee of 12 applies per session or 6 if you sign up for club membership, which costs 25.

Sport sessions with The Sports Club have already been mapped out around the District for the rest of 2009 and into February 2010, so for more information or to receive a copy of the 2009/10 brochure, please contact the Councils Youth Sports Development Officer Scott Burry on 01285 623447.
