CDC Visitor Information Centre is Best in South West!

Visitor Information staff at Cotswold District Councils Moreton Area Centre have been singled out as the best in the South West and are also in the top five nationally.

Visit England recently conducted Mystery Shopper visits to 275 Tourist Information Centres in the country and ranked Moreton Area Centre as the top performer in the South West as well as joint fifth in the nationwide Top Ten performers table. There were also strong performances from Tetbury and Cirencester There were also strong performances from Tetbury and Cirencester (6th and 12th respectively in the whole of the South West) and Bourton was also well inside the top half nationally.)

Commenting on this achievement, the Cabinet lead for Customer Services, Cllr Barry Gibbs, said: Its no surprise that staff in Moreton and our other centres have fared so well in this national survey. They all work and train very hard to ensure that visitors have an excellent welcome when they come to the Cotswolds, and its good to see their efforts being recognised so publicly.

He continued: We have already seen an increase in global interest in this area after the Olympic Torch relay event in Cirencester last week, and we have another bite of the same cherry when the Torch re-enters the Cotswolds on Sunday 1 July at Chipping Campden. To make the most of this potential bonus, its important that we maintain the very high standards of customer service in our Visitor Centres, and I am confident that the staff can rise to this new challenge.
