Historic Wiltshire sporting venue returns to its former glory!

Inglesham Polo Centre, based at Inglesham, just outside Lechlade, has a rich history as one of the leading polo clubs in the UK and it is unusual in that it can host polo all year round due to its state-of-the-art arenas that allow play in all weathers.

Sadly remaining largely unused for the past few years, it was too good a facility to be lying dormant, explains Matt Evetts, whose brainchild it was to bring it back to life: I played in the Inglesham arena years ago, and not only was it great for keeping up polo skills over the winter, but it had a really friendly atmosphere and I remember many happy times here.

"Thats what I wanted to recreate and Ive been amazed at how many people were in agreement. Weve only been up and running for a few weeks and already have a thriving membership rediscovering the fun of arena polo every weekend. Weve also had lots of people coming along just to watch and thats great too!

As the centre has a comfortable club house, teaching room and ponies available to hire alongside the polo facilities, its proving popular with local companies organising team-building days and bookings are already being taken for Christmas events. A day learning to play polo followed by a delicious meal is a great way to enhance team spirit while having lots of fun together and learning new skills, all at a very reasonable cost and this is fast becoming one of the mainstays for the Inglesham team.

Polo happens every Saturday and Sunday at 11am and entry is free for anyone who would like to come and watch.
