Attempted robbery in Cirencester

Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to rob a churchgoer in Cirencester earlier this month.

At approximately 5.50pm on Sunday February 5 the victim, a 32 year-old woman from Bristol, had been standing in the porch of the St John the Baptist Church in Market Place, Cirencester.

While she waited a male approached her, put his hands on her shoulders and asked her for money. He then pushed the woman, causing her to hit her head against the wall, before running away from the scene.

The offender is described as white, in his mid to late 20s, 5ft 9ins tall with a medium build. He had short, dark hair and was wearing a grey 'puffa' jacket.

Anyone with information about the attempted robbery is asked to call Cirencester police on 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 403 of February 5.
