Eight Arrested After Cirencester Assault

Police in Cirencester are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in the town.

A 32-year-old man is suffering severe facial injuries after being set upon by a group of attackers who left him unconscious on a grass area next to Haygarth Close.

The incident happened as he walked to his car between 8 and 8.30pm on Tuesday May 2.

Officers, who have arrested eight males on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, are keen to hear from anyone with information about the assault.

Those arrested are a 16-year-old from Chedworth, a 19-year-old from Chedworth, two eighteen-year-olds from Cirencester and four further Cirencester residents aged 23, 26, 20 and 19.

All have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The victim remains in Cheltenham General Hospital where he is recovering from surgery.
