Jet crashes in Oxfordshire

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that an RAF Pilot has ejected safely, moments before his Harrier jump jet crashed just north of Oxford.

The plane was travelling to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire where it was to take part in the 2006 Royal International Air Tattoo this weekend.

The jet came down at approximately 5pm on Thursday 13th July near Kidlington. The pilot was taken to hospital by Police helicopter. At this time it is not known if there are any other casualties.
