Worcestershire cricket personality dies

Mike Jones, the former president of Worcestershire County Cricket Club, has died aged 81 while on holiday in Portugal.

Mr Jones died in hospital on Saturday, October 21, after collapsing a few days earlier.

Mr Jones played and captained Worcester City Cricket Club from 1947 to 1966 and was elected to Worcestershire CCC committee in 1976. Mr Jones was chairman from 1981 to 1994 during the club's most successful era.

Mike Jones had been a member of Broadway Golf Club since 1969.

Mr Jones leaves a wife Susie and four stepchildren.
