Gloucestershire Residents advised to boil water

The BBC are reporting that people in part of Gloucestershire are being asked to boil their water for drinking and cooking after reports of discolouration in supplies.

The report says that "Thames Water has sent letters of advice to 2,000 homes in Fairford, Horcott, Whelford and parts of Lechlade."

Despite the warning, Thames Water says boiling the water is just a precautionary measure and that supplies are safe.

According to the BBC, the arrangements are likely to remain in place over the next few days while further tests are carried out.
