Recycling Roadshow Rolls Into Stow

Recycle for the Cotswolds will be the message of a roadshow at Stow-on-the-Wold Farmers Market on Thursday, March 8th.

Officers from Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council will be on hand in the Market Square to give shoppers advice on how to recycle and compost as much of their waste as possible.

Cotswold residents are already the best recyclers in the county with rates in the District hitting 40 per cent. But the District Council aims to achieve a rate of 70 per cent by 2010-11 in order to divert as much waste as possible away from landfill sites and avoid punitive landfill taxes.

Council officers at the event, between 9am and 1pm, will also be handing out car tidy bags, car stickers and pouches for the disposal of chewing gum and cigarette butts as part of the Keep The Cotswolds Clean campaign.
