Plastic bottle banks installed at Down Ampney
Plastic bottle banks have been installed in Down Ampney as Cotswold District Council continues to develop recycling services across the District.
Two igloo-style recycling banks have been sited in the village hall car park, adding to existing paper, glass and can banks.
Plastic bottle banks are now available at 22 of the District's recycling bank sites and the Council plans to introduce even more in future.
Cotswold District Council Waste Manager Scott Williams said: "It is vital that we work with residents to increase recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
"We are already top of the recycling league in Gloucestershire with rates of over 40 per cent but we must do even better.
"The kerbside collection of plastic bottles remains uneconomic in the Cotswolds and would raise environmental concerns due to the use of extra vehicles.
"Increasing the number of plastic bottle banks is therefore a much better option and Im sure the people of Down Ampney will make good use of the new facilities.
