Two Killed In A40 Crash

Two men have died as a result of a road traffic collision that occurred on the A40 near to the Wittington junction at around 5.20pm on Wednesday May 30.

The deceased, a 27 year-old man and a 26 year-old man, both from the Cheltenham area, had been in a black Ford Escort that was in collision with a red BMW.

Both men, who had been driver and front seat passenger respectively, were declared dead at the scene of the crash. The coroner has been informed.

The driver of the BMW, a 49 year-old man from Cheltenham, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance for treatment at Cheltenham General Hospital.

The A40 was closed for eight hours following the crash to allow a police investigation to be carried out at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident number 409 of May 30.
