Don't lose your vote

Cotswold District Council is carrying out its annual update of the register of electors by issuing a form to every home in the District over the next two weeks.

If the details on the form have not changed, occupiers will be able to confirm their details by telephone by dialling 0800 197 4908 or register by logging on to www.registerbyinternet.com/cotswold

By then keying in the two-part security code printed on the form, the details are confirmed and transferred to the Council's computerised register. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If household details have changed, the elector should mark these clearly on the form and return it by post or hand to the Council offices in Trinity Road, Cirencester, or the CDC Area Centre in the High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh.

Electoral Services Officer Sarah Dalby said: "If residents are able to confirm details by phone or internet, there is no need to send the form back to us so money is saved on postage and administration costs. It's an easy way to ensure you don't lose your vote.

"If a response to the form is not made at an early date, reminders have to be sent - which puts further demands on our budget.

"It's important to register if we don't have your details, you will not be able to vote and may experience difficulty in obtaining credit or opening a bank account."
