Real Food and Drink Weekend - Priory Inn

Recently produced, Environmentally sound, Appetising and Local! It's the "REAL Food and Drink Weekend", at The Priory Inn, Tetbury.

The Priory Inn is offering REAL food weekends this winter, to stimulate your senses and inspire you with the simple pleasures of seasonal and local food and drink.

What better way to spend a winter weekend than immersed in real food and drink in the heart (and stomach)-warming Cotswolds. The Priory Inn, Tetbury - the family friendly, award-winning gastro-inn is offering a "REAL Food and Drink Weekend", which involves sampling and learning about the Recently produced, Environmentally sound, Appetising, Local produce. It provides a great chance to pick up some Christmas shopping at the region's best Farmer's Market and you also get to take home a tasting basket with some of the local goodies that you have experienced.

Hotel director and co-owner, Tanya Kelly says: "As a gastro-inn which is committed to local, REAL food and drink, we great a great kick out of showing off on behalf of our local producers and suppliers. We truly believe in food and drink that is Recently produced, Environmentally sound, Appetising and Local - in short REAL! The countryside is an increasingly difficult place to make a living with income from farming falling by 60% since 1996. Many families who have been in farming for generations are now 'adding value' to their products to maintain their farms and continue their lifestyles. The result is revolutionary for British food and we are thrilled to put these products in pride of place on our menus: hand-made cheeses; home-churned ice-cream; honey and jams; natural liqueurs; sparkling wines and lagers; and, we take great delight in cooking delicious cuts of local meat and poultry and accompanying these dishes with local produce whose flavours cannot be beaten.

The drive and passion shown by these people is inspirational and we would like our guests to come and experience this for themselves. Arriving on Friday evening in time for dinner in our gastro-inn, our guests will visit the region's award-winning farmers' market on Saturday morning where they will have the chance to supplement the all-crucial Christmas feasting or shopping with some specialist goodies. They will then make their way to a 'dairy farm turned cheese-making facility' for a fascinating and personal insight before returning to The Priory Inn for wine-tasting featuring local wine. Dinner that evening will again be in our gastro-inn and is an informal, candle-lit affair with the walk-around fire blazing in the background. After a leisurely (local) breakfast on Sunday morning, there will be a tour of the vineyard which was the source of the wine they tasted the evening before. Their weekend will be complete and senses satisfied when they take home a basket of goodies that they have tried and tasted during the weekend courtesy of The Priory Inn!"

The Priory Inn's "Real Food and Drink Weekend" costs just 399.00 per couple. This price is based on 2 people sharing a room and includes: 2 nights accommodation and 2 evening meals; a trip to the Farmer's market in Stroud; a tour of a cheese-making facility; wine tasting; a tour of a local vineyard; and, a basket of local goodies to take home.

The Priory Inn - whose busy gastro-inn, bedrooms and coffee bar have been completely refurbished by the current owners is at the heart of Tetbury life. It's aim is to be the best value place to "eat, drink and sleep" in the Cotswolds, and the gastro-inn's roots lie firmly in producing exciting modern rustic cuisine using the best seasonal produce the Cotswolds has to offer, cooked expertly but simply and not costing the earth! The Priory Inn was awarded three prestigious industry awards in 2006 from Harden's Guide, Cotswold Life and Taste of The West. It again won the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Award for 2007 and is a Taste of The West Finalist 2007.

The gastro-inn has gained a reputation for its live acoustic music on Sunday nights and its second menu which features gourmet pizzas from the wood-fired oven. The restaurant is welcoming to all members of the family whatever their age with a special lunchtime kids' menu and highchairs, but monitors work from bedrooms to restaurants, so parents staying at the hotel can relax in the evenings without the little ones!

The management team behind The Priory boasts years of hospitality experience between them, working in and launching high profile hotel and restaurant establishments in New York, London and Hertfordshire.

The Priory Inn is situated in Tetbury, a beautiful market town in the heart of the Cotswolds which is one of the most important antiques centres in the UK. It is 2 miles from the Royal home of Highgrove. The hotel has 14 ensuite contemporary bedrooms.
