New information kiosk for Chipping Norton
Information on local tourist accommodation, planning applications and West Oxfordshire District Council services in general is now more easily available in Chipping Norton, thanks to a new electronic kiosk just installed at the Guildhall. The kiosk comprises a large display-screen with an easy-to-use keyboard and mouse. It means any member of the public can log on to the Councils website www.westoxon.gov.uk, or to the brand new tourism website www.oxfordshirecotswolds.org. All new planning applications, including drawings, can now be viewed in detail using the kiosk. People looking for somewhere to stay or attractions to visit in and around Chipping Norton can quickly find out what is available from the tourism site. What is more they can use the kiosk to reserve rooms on the spot. For local residents, another big advantage is that the kiosk allows them to pay bills for Council Tax, Business rates, parking fines and similar on the spot online, saving postage costs or the need to queue for a receptionist at busy times. And it makes getting information on the full range of West Oxfordshire District Council services easier for anyone who does not have access to the internet at home. Cllr Hilary Biles, Cabinet Member for Leisure & Tourism said: It is essential that rural areas have access to services locally. This is great news for Chipping Norton. It means residents and tourists alike have immediate access to a wide range of useful information. For many residents, this will save them travelling to the offices in Witney. For tourists, it enables them to reserve rooms on the spot and view local attractions they may wish to visit. This has to be a plus for everyone. The Guildhall's new information kiosk can be used completely free of charge during normal opening hours - 8.45am-1pm and 2pm -4.30pm Monday to Thursday and to 4pm on Fridays.
