Free Fun At Museum On Heritage Open Day

Free fun for all the family is on offer at the Corinium Museum, Cirencester, on Saturday, September 13th as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme.

The popular museum is taking part in the annual event by waiving its usual admission fee to allow visitors to celebrate culture on their doorstep.

As an added bonus, the Museum is providing some fun events for families and is playing host to local musicians and singers in its fabulous Hare Gallery.

Brass rubbing, mask making, trying on replica historic costumes and pitting wits against fiendish museum trails are on offer for younger visitors - and for those who are young at heart!

The Museum will be open from 10am to 5pm. From 1.30pm, the Hare Gallery will be filled with the sound of three local music groups: The Corinium Players, a young guitar group, Village Voices, a choir for people aged over 50 from the Kemble area, and singers trained by Maria Jagusz will be among those performing.

Heritage Open Days, co-ordinated by the Civic Trust, celebrate Englands architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to interesting properties that are either not usually open, or would normally charge an entrance fee. The scheme also includes tours, events and activities that focus on local architecture and culture.

Museum Education Officer Rachael Holtom said: This is a great opportunity for people to learn a little more about our Cotswold heritage and - most important of all - have a great free day out.
