Woodstock

While you may not have heard of Woodstock, you will probably have heard of Blenheim Palace and Winston Churchill.
Woodstock view

Woodstock is where you will find Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and nearby Bladon is where you can find his grave.

Woodstock means "settlement in the woods".

Many people will visit Blenheim Palace without actually venturing into Woodstock itself as the main entrance to Blenheim Palace is just outside Woodstock itself. If you are visiting Blenheim Palace, take some time out to venture into Woodstock as it has a charming centre with many shops, pubs and restaurants.

Known as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’ and founded in 1163, Woodstock epitomises the charm and beauty of many Cotswold towns.

Full of history, the small market town of Woodstock has a cosy, friendly and some would say upmarket atmosphere. There are many local traders who are passionate about their businesses.

Woodstock has an air of sophistication and provides a superior shopping, dining and ‘staying over’ experience; a wide selection of exclusive goods and services offer real value. Woodstock is probably one of the country’s best kept secrets.

The three main streets are set out in a triangle with free parking. Everything is in easy walking distance, allowing you to browse, stroll and sample stress-free. There is also a free car park just a short distance from the centre of Woodstock.

Woodstock Town Hall

As well as locally produced goods, Woodstock is full of individually sourced, unusual and exotic finds from around the world. You can discover international art, antiques from home and abroad, stunning silks from the East, as well as stylish clothes from France. If you are looking for art, furniture, interior design ideas, or are planning a new kitchen or bathroom, there are specialist, top quality businesses here to help you.
