Multi-Sport Sessions Given Boost - North Cotswolds
Multi-sports opportunities for children and young people with disabilities in the Cotswolds has been given a boost, thanks to a 1100 inclusion grant.
The 4us2 club, set up by Cotswold District Council to encourage young people with disabilities to take part in sport, received the money thanks to a grant from Gloucestershire County Council this spring.
This sum will now enable 4us2 to provide money for transport and additional staff, while Active Gloucestershire one of CDCs partners in the scheme will provide their Inclusion Community Coach to run the sessions.
The classes have been running since January and offer a wide range of different sports, including boccia, wheel-chair football, cheerleading, and a range of games. They are all run by experienced, qualified sport coaches.
Claire Dowan, Cotswold District Councils Youth Participation Officer, said: This is an opportunity for local children and young people with disablities to have a go at a wide range of physical activiities, and make friends at the same time.
One parent whose child attends the classes said: There is some great equipment adaptable to many needs. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the facilities at the school are brilliant.
4us2 is held on Wednesday afternoons at the Cotswold School in Bourton-on-the-Water from 3.45pm-5pm. The sessions, aimed at children aged over 8, are available on June 10th, 17th and 24th, and July 1st and 8th.
Anyone wanting more information or who wants to book a place on any of the events should contact Cotswold District Councils Claire Dowan on 01285 623568 or by email, [email protected]
