Fillip For Fairford Fitness Fanatics!

Exercise enthusiasts in the Fairford area are welcoming a major upgrade to the gym in the towns leisure centre. The new gym, which will open fully on December 11th after extensive improvements, will be able to accommodate up to 30 users at any one time, treble the size of the previous facility.

Cotswold District Council has invested 225,000 in Cotswold Leisure Fairford, the majority of which has been spent on extending the previous gym and purchasing twenty four pieces of state-of-the art equipment including treadmills, steppers and exercise bikes, as well as built-in audio-visual entertainment.

At a special preview evening on December 10th opened by Councillor David Fowles, the Cabinet Member for Customer Services, regular gym users and local community leaders tried out the new equipment and expressed their delight with the end result.

Jamie Nesbit, CDCs Head of Leisure, commented: "This is great news for Fairford. I fully expect that there will be a big demand for use of these great new facilities.

"We also recently upgraded the gyms in the dual user sports centres in Bourton on the Water, Chipping Campden and Tetbury and this prompted a rise in membership - I am sure that Fairford will follow suit."
