CDC Begins Search for New Recycling Facility
Cotswold District Council is urgently looking for a new recycling site serving the Fairford area, following the Town Council’s decision to remove the current facility.
A recent decision by Fairford Town Council and the local Youth Football Club to remove the recycling facility near the car park in Horcott Road, Fairford has prompted Cotswold District Council to look for an alternative site on an urgent basis.
Scott Williams, Waste Manager at Cotswold District Council, commented: "It’s very unfortunate that the recycling banks have to be removed, especially since the closest alternative site is over 6 miles away in Lechlade, but we are aiming to provide a better option in the near future.
"Fairford has a great track record for recycling and, I appreciate that this is not an ideal state of affairs for everyone. I can assure residents that we are doing all in our power to find a workable solution quickly and, while we search for another site for the banks, I would urge them to recycle as much as they can via our fortnightly kerbside collections."
