Please check your waste collection area!

As Cotswold District Council prepares to launch kerbside mixed rigid plastic collections in the district next month, they have urged residents to double check whether their designated collection areas are in the north or south so that they will know when their new service will start.

Ubico Ltd, the Councils environmental services provider, will start the fortnightly plastic recycling collections in the north of the district on the week beginning Monday 8 October but will not introduce the new service to households in the south until the week beginning Monday 29 October.

Head of Environmental Services, Claire Locke, explains: Were phasing in the service so that we can review progress in the north and, if needs be, iron out any snags before we include houses in the south too. To help things go smoothly, we would urge residents to make sure they know whether they are in the north or south. Just enter your postcode on our website home page at www.cotswold.gov.uk or call us on 01285 623123 if you are not sure.

She continues: Once the new service kicks in across the whole district by the end of October, it will be much easier for residents to remember when to leave out mixed rigid plastics, because it will be on the same designated collection day for all their other recyclables.

Full details about the new kerbside mixed rigid plastic collections are being sent to all households across the district in a special edition of the Councils Cotswold News magazine. Copies are also available by calling 01285 623000.
