Christmas Raffle launched to boost funds for new classroom at Batsford

Batsford Arboretums Leaves For Learning Project is set to receive a welcome boost thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

A Christmas Raffle has been launched with prizes totalling almost 5,000 and tickets are on sale now.

First Prize: A childrens shepherds hut (as seen outside The Applestore at Batsford)
Second Prize: A spa day for two at the new Dormy House Hotel and Spa
Third Prize: One nights bed and breakfast for two at the Noel Arms Hotel
Fourth Prize: A mini pamper pass for two at the Cotswold House Hotel and Spa
Fifth Prize: A family season ticket giving year round access to Batsford Arboretum.

PR and Marketing Manager, Susie Hunt, says Weve been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses whove contributed such wonderful prizes for our raffle. Its entirely down to them that weve been able to organise the raffle and well be making the most of our busy autumn period to sell as many tickets as possible.

The Leaves For Learning Project was launched in August to raise nearly 40,000 to build a new schoolroom at Batsford. It allows people five levels of donation which earn them a leaf or acorn to be added to a huge tree mural in the visitor centre which will become a permanent feature of the new schoolroom when its built. For more about this project please visit http://www.batsarb.co.uk/news-events/article.asp?n=26

We already offer around 700 local primary schoolchildren the chance to learn more about how plants and trees grow and the importance of natural spaces and conservation with our Mr Rotavator Nature Days each summer term, says Mrs Hunt. But a new schoolroom will give us the opportunity to extend our education programmes and give us flexibility to hold adult courses and events too.

The wooden style schoolroom will be available for other organisations and businesses to hire and will complement the beautiful visitor centre which opened at Batsford in 2011, housing the Garden and Gift Shops, Arboretum entrance and the Garden Terrace Caf.

Tickets will be on sale from all tills at Batsford and cost 5 for a book of 5 tickets with all proceeds going to the Leaves For Learning Project. Donations to the appeal can also be made online at www.justgiving.com/leavesforlearning
