Phill Jupitus performs his poetry at legendary venue The Convent

Phill Jupitus, one of the UKs most successful stand-ups, will be performing poetry at The Convent in Stroud on September 3rd as a special guest of the Panic Brothers. It is part of a series of shows hosted by the Panic Brothers who are hand picking selected guests and bringing them to Gloucestershire. It will be the first time Phill Jupitus has performed at The Convent.

Phill Jupitus, better known as a captain on the TV quiz show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, performs under the name of Porky the Poet. His poetry enables him to reveal a completely different, far gentler side to himself - while still able to make people laugh. His set is like a stand-up routine, with poetry readings slotted in both those written by him as well as poems that inspire him.

The Panic Brothers are made up of a sharp-witted standup comedian and songwriter Richard Morton as well as an award-winning singer songwriter Reg Meuross: two men, two mics, two guitars, two voices that blend so well its hard to tell which is which.

The pair, reunited after a break of 25 years, have teamed up with some of their most talented friends from the entertainment business for a series of cabaret-style evenings of music and comedy at the Bloomsbury Theatre London and the Convent Club, Stroud. This show will feature Phill Jupitus in the second half of the show, building to a fantastic musical finale.

Described by Andy White of Music Week as Excellent snappy songs, booming acoustic guitars and perfect harmonies are the Panics trademarks. Hailed for their Spine-chilling harmonies (The Guardian) and Combination of sharp, witty songs, tight harmonies and powerful acoustic guitars (Time Out), this is an evening not to be missed.

With this series of cabaret-style evenings, The Convent in Gloucestershire continues to secure its place as a venue offering musical heroes and emerging talent in a high tech and intimate venue. All gigs are broadcast live globally via Netgig.co.uk - the worlds first pay per view broadcasting channel, with an audience reach of 22 million.

Tickets cost 20 for members of The Convent or 25 for non-members. They can be purchased from the Box Office 0330 2232 707

The Convent address is Convent Lane, South Woodchester, GL5 5HS.
