Green light for Chipping Norton neighbourhood plan

Residents in Chipping Norton have voted overwhelmingly in favour of adopting a neighbourhood plan which will give them a greater say on future developments in the town.

Results of the referendum which took place yesterday (Thurs) saw 901 votes in favour of the motion: "Do you want West Oxfordshire District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Chipping Norton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

There were 80 votes against with a turnout of 20.89 per cent.

As the plan was supported by more than 50% of those who voted, the plan will now be formally adopted by the District Council and will then form part of the statutory development plan for West Oxfordshire alongside the Local Plan, being taken into account as a material consideration in planning decisions for Chipping Norton.
