Chedworth
Roman Villa
Cedworth
Roman Villa is one of the largest Romano-British villas in
the country and is under the stewardship of The National Trust.
Over
a mile of walls survives at Chedworth Roman Villa
and there are several fine mosaics, two bathhouses, hypocausts,
a water-shrine and latrine. Set in a wooded Cotswold combe, the
site was excavated in 1864 and still has a Victorian atmosphere.
The museum houses objects from the villa and a 15-minute audio-visual
presentation gives visitors an insight into the history of this
fascinating place.
