Broadway scene

Broadway, Worcestershire is known to some as "The Jewel of the Cotswolds". It is one of the prettiest of the Cotswold villages and you only have to visit once to see why it has the title of The Jewel of the Costwolds.

The main street (High Street) in Broadway is very wide, much wider than other Cotswold streets in similar towns and villages, and lined with ancient honey coloured cotswold stone buildings dating back to the 16th century. The Cotswold Stone found in the buildings of Broadway is noticeably richer in colour than some other areas of the Cotswolds where the stone can be quite pale in colour.

Broadway was the inspiration to a number of artists and writers including Vaughan Williams, Elgar and William Morris.

The Olive Branch in Broadway

The Olive Branch, Broadway

The Olive Branch Guest House in the Cotswolds, is a 400 year old 16th Century Grade II Listed building having been built in 1592. From what we know it was originally a Coaching House, as the town was a staging area on the route from Worcester and the Midlands to London Town.

Many of the building's original structures are still apparent, including the original Cotswold stone, the flagstone floor, the inglenook fireplace, the main structure of the building and a number of other areas in the house and garden wall. The Guest House also contains a number of antiques.
